Description
The ready event occurs when the DOM (document object model) has been loaded, and the page has been completely rendered (including images).
Because this event occurs after the document is ready, it is a good place to have all other jQuery events and functions.
The .ready() method specifies what happens when a ready event occurs. It can only be used on the current document, so no selector is required.
v1.0
The three following syntaxes are allowed:
$(document).ready(function)
$().ready(function)
$(function)
Parameter | Description |
---|---|
function | (required) Specifies the function to run after the document has been loaded. |
Tip: The ready() method should not be used together with <body onload="">
.
Return Value
This form returns a jQuery object.
Examples
Use ready() to make a function available after the document has been loaded:
$(document).ready(function(){
$("button").click(function(){
$("p").slideToggle(); });
});
